Yet this raises important questions about where our scientific funding should be going. Is sending colonists to a new planet a practical solution to serious Earth problems such as increasingly limited natural resources? Or should we focus all our efforts only on improving conditions on Earth, even if we are very far from adequate solutions? What do you think, and why?
